So, the internet died yesterday. Well, not the whole thing, just out in my neck of the woods. Makes me glad that I don’t integrate Scrivener with Dropbox or anything like that. Yes, I know it can be done. Yes I’ve heard horror stories. Yes, I know how to keep from becoming a statistic. It’s just that, well, none of that matters when your internet stability is…questionable.
So what did I do Yesterday? I put the story through the “Read aloud” pass. That’s where you read the entire thing aloud and listen to places that sound “Off” or places where you run out of breath before you run out of sentence. That kind of thing.
I find it to be really, freaking useful.
This morning, I took my notes from the “Read Aloud” pass and made those minor changes.
It brought the word count up to 7700 and some change and now I sent it off to a couple of Beta Readers. I’m asking to hear back from them on Monday and that’ll give me 3 days to incorporate feedback. For now, I’m taking a deep breath and kicking back a little.
After I query another agent.
