Quick Catch Up

Catching up

This is going to be a brief post this week (assuming that it happens this week). The internet has been wonky and the “To-Do” list today has been looming, but I totally handled it. Like. A. Boss.

Really.

So, what have I been up to?  Let me break it down for you.

Chasing the Kestrel – I’ve entered the book in Pitch Wars. This is a twitter contest where you submit a query letter and your first chapter to up to four potential mentors. If said mentor selects your book, they will read the manuscript and then work with you to polish it up and get it (and your synopsis and query letter) ready to put in front of potential agents. The contest started at the beginning of August and the mentor/mentee pairings will be announced on August 25th.

If Y’all would cross whatever you’ve got for me on that, I’d take it as a kindness.

Brimstone – This is the title of my entry into the follow-up anthology to the Weird Wild West. It’ll be called the Lawless Lands. As of Monday, I’ll be heading into the Reading-the-whole-thing-out-loud phase and correcting any clunkiness. After that, it’ll go to beta readers to rip apart read through and, based on that feedback, I’ll make some more corrections and then submit it.

Again, If Y’all would cross what you’ve got for me, I’d take it as a kindness.

The Price of Power – This is the story I turned in for the Anthology set in Faith Hunter’s Rogue Mage universe. I’ve already heard back from the editor. I made my changes and sent the story back in, so I’m in a holding pattern on this one. Stay tuned.

Partners – I got some really great feedback at the Writer’s Retreat this year and I combed through it and generated a “To-Do” list for this story. I’ll start working on that as soon as I’ve sent out Brimstone – provided that I don’t have anything to do for Chasing the Kestrel as a result of Pitch Wars.

I’m kinda bummed about this. I really like this story and, lately, it’s been a struggle to give Callie and her friend the attention they need to find a home. It’ll happen, though.

I think I’m going to call it a day with these four. I’ve got food on the grill (yes, it’s on-and-off raining, but it’s the weekend, damn it). and double-dark-chocolate gelato for dessert.

Be safe, everyone.
