Looking into the Future

Well, a little bit anyway.

I’m typing this up on a Wednesday night. The bags are packed (more or less), and I’m winding down for the night. Thursday will see me off to the airport for what I hope will be an awesome weekend at Balticon 52

As this post will be going up on Sunday, I’ll have had experienced most of the con by then.

Here, on Wednesday night, is what I’m looking forward to:

Damn near everything! I’m on a bunch of great panels, and there’ll be plenty to see while I’m in between panels, myself. I’ve got plans to meet more folks from the Codex Writers group.

One thing I want to do this weekend is up my face to face networking game. It’s difficult for me to simply go up and introduce myself to folks without any kind of an invitation. I’d like that to get easier, and there’s only one way to do it.

That, and there are a boatload of people that I want to hang out with.

I’ll post a con report on the next Friday Fess-Up.

In the mean time, here’s where you can find me on Sunday:

Sunday, May 27th:

3:00 pm: Cutthroat Fiction – Pride of Baltimore II
“A panel of writers will create flash fiction pieces in front of the audience – who will get to sabotage them by taking away words or creating silly rules”
(Author’s note: You think you can trip us up? Bring it on.)

5:00 pm: Diversity Readers and Why You Need Them – Homeland
“No matter one’s background or life experiences, everyone has blind spots. Diversity readers help illuminate what an author may be missing. How can writers find and properly compensate diversity readers?”

I’m looking forward to both of these panels. The Cutthroat Fiction panel was a lot of fun last year and I’m expecting it to be just as good of a time.

I’m looking forward to the Diversity Readers panel because a) it’s important that diverse views are represented in genre fiction, and b) you want to make sure that you’re doing it respectfully, and accurately.

So if you see me at Balticon this weekend, come on over and say Hi. I’d love to meet you.

Be safe Y’All
