Welcome, everyone to another installment of Five Thing Thursday
Here are Five Things that I want you to know:
Thing #1: You should go check out the band Eluveitie. They’re pretty good. I’m Particularly fond of their song The Call of the Mountains. And I don’t know of any other metal band out there that includes a Hurdy Gurdy player. Seriously.
Thing #2: “Yoicks” is a word.
It’s probably the precursor to “Yikes,” although the two words mean different things now. I stumbled upon it while I was paging through my dictionary looking for something else – Having a hard copy of a dictionary is pretty useful. You should get one.
According the Merriam-Webster it was used as a call to foxhounds around 1774. My first, and only (not counting repeat watchings) experience with the word is when Daffy Duck cries it out during the Cartoon where Daffy Duck is Robin Hood. Google it.
