Happy Friday Everyone!!! We Made it!
This has been the first week of my End of the Year Vacation!!!
And I’ve got to say that it’s been pretty damned productive, despite myself. I finished my first Read it Out Loud editing pass on JADE MOON WANING.
I knocked out almost 100 pages on Wednesday to get to the end, and then I turned around and met up with my local writers group later that night and I got some transcription done.
Wednesday was a pretty intensive writing day.
Which would explain why Thursday wasn’t as productive.
I really stretched myself on Wednesday, came home, grabbed a quick bite to eat, read for a bit, and hit the sack to wake up the next morning to do it all over again.
I got hung up on a ship name for about 90 minutes, before getting so frustrated with myself that I just said, “Fine. This is definitely a plan B, but you are simply not capable of fielding your A game this morning.”
That’s the mental version of a strained muscle.
I didn’t give myself a cool-down period, and I should have.
So I didn’t get as much as I wanted to done on Thursday. And that’s ok. I’m not on any kind of deadline, other than self imposed. Besides: I’ve got a weekend coming up.
That brings me to thoughts of taking some time off. I didn’t really plan to take an entire day and just fuck off. Sure there’s stuff to do, housekeeping, day to day stuff that you’ve got to do, but there wasn’t a spot in my plan to just kick back and relax. Do nothing.
And I think that I might be doing myself a disservice here. I don’t know if it’s going to be this weekend (and I am not counting Christmas in this…I’ve got to be “On” for a good chunk of the day, and that doesn’t count as “Time Off”), but at least one day between now and the end of the year, I am going to pull the plug. Step away from everything and just chill, you know? I’ll let you know how it goes.

What am I reading this week?
The Chronicles of the Lensmen vol. 1 by E.E. “Doc” Smith. I have this in an omnibus edition. The story that I’m currently reading in this volume is “First Lensman.”
The Black Company, by Glen Cook.
What am I listening to this week? The Functional Nerds Podcast.
How have I been relaxing and refilling the well? This Weekend? Sleep. Lots of Sleep. I failed in my bamboozlery to get the Wife to the theater to watch Mortal Engines. The struggle continues…
