Friday Fess-Up: January 25th.

Welcome to the another installment of the Friday Fess-up!

We made it!

OK, so…I’ve got a bit of a confession to make – which is what this post (or is it column? Can I call it a column?) is all about:

I’m beginning to dislike short work weeks.

I know. Crazy talk, right?

But…there it is.

It wouldn’t be so bad if we could all come to the universal and – I think – the essential realization that you *cannot* fit five day’s worth of work into a four day (or any parcel of time that is less than five days long) package.

Not without some serious temporal fiddling around, and I’m just not feeling up to that.

So, workplaces of the world, knock it the hell off, right?

What’s been going on this past week?

Last weekend I was at ConFusion!! Thank you to those of you that stopped by. I met a lot of awesome people and caught up with a bunch of awesome people last weekend.

I committed to getting a bit of work done over the weekend, and I did manage that, though the times were often sporadic and, as often as not, in the wee-hours of the morning.*

Post con, it got cold. really cold, and the heater in the house is really struggling to keep up. That means that I’ve had to relocate my writing space – not wholesale, mainly just the laptop, but it’s been disruptive. I’m not sure how well I like it, having the summer space and the winter space but, for now, I’m making it work.

And work it is. I’m still pushing forward, though I hadn’t had the time to bring the laptop into work to get more pages edited (see the whole 5 days into 4 thing above), but I am down to the last hundred or so pages. Soon I’ll be done – with this round.

See you on Sunday!

*This would be the wee-hours after I woke up, not before I went to bed. I didn’t have much left in the tank by then.

###

What am  I reading this week?

The Chronicles of the Lensmen vol. 2 by E.E. “Doc” Smith. I have this in an omnibus edition. The story that I’m currently reading in this volume is “Second Stage Lensman.”

How to Save an Undead Life” by Hailey Edwards.

What am I listening to this week? The Be the Serpent podcast.
Reader, I got to meet one of the Serpents at ConFusion: Jennifer Mace. There was much internal Squeeeee happening.

How have I been relaxing and refilling the well? I need a rest. I failed in my commitment last week to get a solid 8 hours a night, every night (One night in three to be exact). So I’m in recovery mode.
