Friday Fess-Up: February 22nd.

Welcome to another edition of the Friday Fess-Up!

We made it!

So…this has been a week.

I’ve reached the point where – since my manuscript has been in the hands of my Agent and CP – there’s a voice in my head that’s asking what’s taking so long.

This voice’s name is anxiety, and it’s got answers:
Because it’s crap.
They’re struggling to get through it.
They don’t like it (or parts of it) and they’re trying to figure out how to tell you.

All of that is just horseshit.

But it’s there.

So I’ve been drowning that voice in work.

I’ve just sent out a new short story, and I’m working on polishing up another one. I’ve got a third one waiting for me after that.

Physically, this has been a punishing week. I’m not as immortal as I used to be, and the combination of Freeze-Thaw that has been going on has made working outside pretty treacherous. Everything from the waist down is sore, and I’m counting the days until my next chiropractor appointment.

I don’t say this to generate feelings of pity, etc. This is the current reality and, like everything else, this too shall pass.

I mention it because, despite all of that, the one thing that gets me up in the morning is getting back to writing.

Now I’m not going to say that its all butterflies and Unicorns – indeed, at below freezing temperatures, dark, and it dropping some obscene combination of rain/Ice from the sky I’m as like to turn a shotgun on any butterflies or unicorns I find between me and the first cup of coffee.

But It’s the Work, that I always go back to. The stories. They keep me going.

And the greatest thing?

There’s always another one out there.

See you on Sunday!

What am  I reading this week?

Gatecrashers by Patrick S. Tomlinson.

How to Save an Undead Life” by Hailey Edwards.

What am I listening to this week?

The Galactic Surburbia Podcast.

How have I been relaxing and refilling the well? The Six Nations Rugby Tournament is back on. The only match that matters is Wales v England.

I really want Wales to win.
Cymru am byth!!

Means: Wales Forever!

If you can find them (often the Women’s matches are streamed live), I recommend watching this awesome game.

Outside of a bit of Ruggers, I’m going to sleep. Morpheus is a predatory lender, and he always collects…sooner or later.
