Five Thing Thursday: April 4th.

Welcome, everyone to another installment of Five Thing Thursday and…

Here are Five Things I want you to Know:

Thing #1: In case you missed it, SyFy Fangirrls finished off Women’s History Month with Milicent Patrick: The Woman who designed The Creature from the Black Lagoon. They cited work from my friend Mallory O’Meara‘s book: “The Lady from the Black Lagoon: Hollywood Monsters and the Lost Legacy of Milicent Patrick” Do yourself a favor and check out her work.

Thing #2: The Hugo Nominations are now live! You can see all of the nominees here. You should go check out those works!

Thing #3: This week’s soundscape has been brought to you by John Anealio and Blind Guardian.

Thing #4: This week, I started S.M. Sterling‘s Emberverse series, beginning with “Dies the Fire,” and I’m really digging it.

Thing #5: Stick to your guns. There may be times where you might feel like you’re not doing enough, or not doing it quickly enough, especially now that the Hugo Nominations (See Thing #2) have been released, along with the next class of Clarion and Clarion West attendees have been released.

Believe me, I’m feeling this too. Keep your focus on your own work. Do what only you can do. You’ll get there. Don’t give up.

What am  I reading this week?

Dies the Fire by S.M. Sterling.

A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe by Alex White

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

What am I listening to this week?

The Unsupervised Podcast.

How have I been relaxing and refilling the well? This weekend will see me catching up on sleep. Per usual. I don’t have much planned for the weekend. I’ve got a Fitbit coming, because the tiny gods know I need to do something, and I’m hoping to start evaluating, and re-evaluating what I’m doing, this weekend – and maybe catch a bit of Rugby.
