Friday Fess-Up: March 1st.

Welcome to another edition of the Friday Fess-Up!

We made it!

I started this feature of the blog to post some kind of recap of my writing week. I did this for two reasons:

The first was to keep myself honest. If I was recapping my writing week, then I had to actually do some writing that week, right? Otherwise I’d have to “Fess-Up” to not getting any work done that week.

The second (and much more important reason) was to show folk, especially those writers like me that may just be starting out, that it wasn’t all 5000 word days every day. That kind of thing is difficult to do even when you *don’t* have a day job to take care of the bills, a family, kids, pets, etc.

It was going to be an unvarnished look showcasing the good days and the bad days.

This week, my problem is that I can’t really recall Monday or Tuesday.

I  mean, I’m pretty sure they happened, and that I was awake for most of both days. I just can’t remember what I did.

I know that I haven’t been getting a lot done. Well, I don’t feel like I’ve been getting a lot done. I’m up every day during the week before sunrise (not on the weekend, though. To hell with that…), and I’m working on revising BRIMSTONE – a short story that will soon be out on Submission.

After that, I dig back into revising JADE MOON WANING.

It might be that I’m revising and not actually making new words that’s causing one day to bleed into the next, I don’t know.

The dark and the cold aren’t helping.

So…I feel like I’m getting repetitive. There are a good reasons for that. The act of writing is repetitive when viewed from the outside.

I get up, I sit down, I write.

I’m not writing the same thing everyday, I’m not revising the same thing every day. But it’s hard to put into words the tiny joys that come along the way.

I don’t want to be repetitive. I don’t think that you want me to be repetitive either.

For that reason, and for a few others which I won’t get into here, I’m going to put the Friday Fess-Up on the shelf for a while.

I’m going to add a bit of what was in this space to the tail end of the Five Thing Thursday posts, and I’ll move part of the rest into the usual Sunday blog post.

Thanks for reading these.

See you on Sunday!
