Independence Day

As Luck would have it, today’s post falls on what (in the US) is a national holiday.

And here I am, standing on the edge of a long and slippery slope. I’m not going to get into any of the work we still need to do, not only as a country, but as a society, to get to that place where everyone in this country can experience today as the same holiday.

Instead I’m going to focus on this:

We come together, today, in groups of varying sizes. From large public celebrations to intimate personal get togethers. Why?

Because we need each other. All of us. Maybe not all of the time, and maybe the term “Independent” as it’s used today should be more like a sliding scale, rather than an On/Off switch.

Think about that while you’re waiting for the grill to warm up.

Thanks for reading.

Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.

I’ll see you on Thursday.
