Easing Back into Things

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks for me, here at the Forge. You may hove noticed that I’ve missed a post here and there. Thanks for sticking with me.

It all started one morning with that nightmare scenario where you hit the power button on your trusty laptop…and nothing happens. It’s an exquisite kind of sinking feeling – as an aside: back up your data.

So it was a fits and starts kind of time there and needless to say, I didn’t get much done in the way of…well…anything.

Another aside: Google drive turned out to be pretty useful. I’ve got it on my laptop, and my phone and can draft posts at any time. I hope to get more use out of it to draft these, and my Five-Thing Thursday posts ahead of time.

While I was struggling with the laptop, I also went on a little vacation. I traveled to California – San Francisco to be exact – and I left the struggling laptop at home. It was a good trip. I utterly unplugged – as much as one can unplug while carrying around a smartphone – and came back pretty refreshed…only to return to work.

Work was…well…work, and it was a happy time when this weekend finally arrived.

So, all told, I didn’t get much in the way of writing done for a good couple of weeks. I also didn’t get much in the way of walking done – aside from walking around San Francisco, those hills are intense.

So, now I’m having to remind myself that I can’t expect to simply pick up where I left off in terms of productivity. I tried to do that with walking and am paying for it a bit this morning with a bit of soreness.

I’ll get there. All it takes, now that I’ve got a stable platform again, is to sit down and put in the work as often as I can, and I’ll build back up to where I was.

Thanks for reading.

Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.

I’ll see you on Thursday.
