Five-Thing Thursday: July 20th.

Welcome to another Installment of Five-Thing Thursday!

Here are Five Things that I want you to know:

Thing #1: It’s not “All or Nothing.” It’s ok if you can’t DO THE THING for as long as you’d like (or think you should). Even five minutes of DOING THE THING is still DOING THE THING. That time adds up.

Thing #2: The Infinite Monkey Cage Podcast has new episodes up!

Thing #3:  Investing in yourself isn’t selfish. You’re the only you, you have.

Thing #4: What’s playing on the Mental Jukebox today: Love Bites by Judas Priest

Thing #5: The human body is not built for sitting for long periods of time. We are however built for moving for great distances at a moderately good pace. So chase that dream! It may be able to outrun you for the first few hundred meters or so, but as the miles build up, you’ll be able to run it down – unless your dream is a wolf, or a border collie, then you’ve got your work cut out for you.

What am  I reading this week?

Furious Heaven by Kate Elliott

Minimum Wage Magic by Rachel Aaron

How have I been relaxing and refilling the well?

It seems – well it more than seems, it practically is that the one thing I put in this section is SLEEP. So much so, that I’d entertained the idea of getting rid of this section entirely. I mean who wants to read the same thing over and over. But Sleep is essential, and it’s one of the things I can most easily slight myself on, so that’s always going to be part of this section. So this time, let me turn my attention to what’s been refilling the well for me:

This week’s thing # 4 notwithstanding, the musical artists who have really worked their magic for me are Nita Strauss, Beyond the Black, and Trivium. Furious Heaven by Kate Elliott is one of those books that’s so good, I want to read it slowly, simply to make it last longer. The reappearance of The Infinite Monkey Cage podcast has been a very pleasant surprise. Finally, just getting outside and walking has been refreshing.
