The Night Before the Night Before Christmas

Much as it’s been over the course of 2023, plans have changed. Trying to wrangle people and schedules – while admittedly, pretty easy on most days, given enough lead time – sometimes throws you a curve. So it is, this year we’ll be observing X-mas on the 24th which is the day we can all be together.

This also means that we’ll have the house to ourselves on the 25th with nothing to do and nowhere to go. What will we be doing? I’m thinking x-mas brisket and a movie marathon.

Right now, I’m composing this on Saturday night, bundled up in comfortable, cozy clothes, half-watching, half listening to a rugby match with a refreshing beverage close to hand. There’s a bit of a drizzle coming down – at the time of this writing, it’s 44 degrees in my neck of the woods.

I’m comfortable, relaxed, and looking forward to gathering with family over good food.

That’s what I’m wishing for you. May you find comfort, peace, the opportunity to relax and refill the well with family (wherever you may find it).

Next week is the last day of the year and there’s always a bunch of activity and anticipation around that. For now, stop and take care of yourself. Rest. Relax.

Thanks for reading. Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.

I’ll see you on Thursday.
