Looking Ahead

Welcome to the final post of 2023. For the past week, I’ve been reflecting on 2023 and looking ahead to 2024. Like most years, 2023 had its share of ups and downs but, on the whole, there were more ups than downs.

While I can’t say I’m done looking forward yet, I have got the beginnings of a plan for the upcoming year.

2024 will be a year of discovery.

I want to discover new authors.

I want to discover new music.

I want to discover more about myself.

I want to discover more about life.

I want to see new things in old places. I want to be aware of the turning of the coming year.

Early last month, I discovered a photo I had taken of myself while out on one of my walks in January. While I won’t be posting it here, comparing it to another selfie from October, I am quite a bit less the person I used to be (to the tune of 30 lbs).

This time next year, I want to look back on the year that was 2024 and marvel at how much has changed – and not just physically, though that is still definitely a goal. To do that, I’m going to need to step outside of my comfort zone more. To experiment. And yes, there will be failure. That’s part of the process – that’s where the learning happens, so I expect to fail sometimes. I’m even looking forward to those failures, because it means I’m doing something new.

So here’s to a new year, with lots of new things. Who knows what we’ll find on the other side of it.

Let’s find out together.

Thanks for reading. Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.

I’ll see you Next Year.
