Five-Thing Thursday: February 8th.

Welcome to another installment of Five-Thing Thursday!

Here are Five Things that I want you to know:

Thing #1:  It’s very tempting to focus on looking ahead (to weekends, vacations, etc.) and just burn through the day to get one step closer to that one thing, not really paying attention as the days roll past. I’m guilty of this more often than I’d like, so I’m working on being more in the moment.

Thing #2: I think I’m starting to enter a live music phase, where rather than listening to studio recordings exclusively, I’m listening to concerts and it’s an pleasure in its own right.

Thing #3: Start each day by reminding yourself of five things you’re grateful for. You’ll be glad you did.

Thing #4: What is playing on the Mental Jukebox this week: Through Blood and Dirt and Bone by Trivium

Thing #5: I am starting to believe that, for me, there are certain times of day to read certain types of books. I like to reserve a bit of time before bed for reading, and the current book is non-fiction. I feel like it’s taking me longer to get through it, than a genre novel.

What have I been reading in 2024?

Build the Life You Want by Arthur Brooks and Oprah Winfrey

A Bad Deal for the Whole Galaxy by Alex White

Wonderbook by Jeff Vandemere

What am I looking forward to this week?

I am looking forward to the next round of the Six nations tournament. The three unbeaten teams are: Scotland, England, and Ireland. I still think it’s Scotland’s year. I also think that, despite falling to Scotland last week, Wales have a pretty exciting team and will be a force to be reckoned with if they can play with the brilliance they showed in the second half of last week’s match for a full 80 minutes.
