(Re)Focused Work

I’ve often said that this blog is as much for me as it is for you. And there are times when I need to give myself reminders of things I’ve already said.

That’s what this post is about. I sat down to draft this post – under the title: “Focused Work.” It was going to be about sitting down and dedicating a specific, and manageable, amount of time to one thing on the “To Do” list, and do nothing but work on that. It seemed like such a good idea, and I’d been putting it into practice for the past few days.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I had, back in 2019, talked about this very same thing.

Using the same title.

You can find the original post here.

I don’t remember when I’d stopped doing this but apparently enough time had gone by to drain it from my memory so completely that it appeared like a new idea. I imagine that back then it was just as difficult to keep the world from shouldering in and trying to impose it’s schedule, as it is today. Kind of disheartening to think that hasn’t changed after nearly 5 years.

Still, it’s worth repeating: The All or Nothing approach is a misplaced societal construct. Every step forward is still a step forward. Progress is still progress.

More importantly, with rare exception, you CAN move through life at your own pace. I’m doing it right now.

It’s your life, your own life. Move to your own beat.

If I needed this reminder after 5 years, might be you do too.

Thanks for reading. Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.

I’ll see you on Thursday.
