Look Around…

This past week was rough.

I came back from Balticon, to an immense work load at the day job, that I’m still struggling with. It, along with other factors, combined into a kind of awful, mental stew that bubbled and churned.

I lost sleep. When I did sleep, anxiety dreams struck.

I was a wreck come Thursday. I hadn’t written for three days. All I was doing was working and sleeping, and snatching bits of reading before bed.

I took Friday off to regroup and, even though I’ll probably pay for that later on with undone work, it was a good decision.

I sat down and wrote again. I took my foot off the gas pedal of my life and slowed down.

I need to do that more often.

In the words of Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

I’d been missing it this past week.

So, this Sunday, take some time to stop and look around. Breathe. Center yourself and let the sun shine on you for a spell.

Try and make it more of a habit. I know I will.

See you on Thursday!
