Change. Your Mind.

Welcome to the first post of October! It’s Spooky Season up here in my neck of the woods – though it doesn’t feel like it at the minute with it being Sunny and Seventy degrees out there. I’m not complaining, mind. The trees are starting to turn, leaves are starting to fall, Autumn is here and she’s showing off her colors.

It’s a busy time for us here and, in the middle of all that, I want to talk to you about four words that have the power to change everything. Are you ready? Here they are:

“I can do that.”

For as many of you that read the above, there are just as may ways to interpret it. Arrogance, confidence, determination, trepidation, you name it, it’s there.

What it really is, is a statement of fact. You can do anything you set your mind to do. Before the skill, before any natural talent comes into play the one thing that will help you get there is your mindset as you begin.

Does that mean that whatever it is will be easy? Skill and talent come into play, and how much of both you’ve got will grease the skids to some degree, but there will still be work for you to do. But if you set to, thinking that you can’t do it, you won’t.

Negative self-talk is kind of like a way to protect yourself from failure. If you say you can’t do it, then actually fail to do it, your mind goes, “See? Told you.” But that’s false comfort – if it’s comfort at all.

Change your mind. Cultivate a positive mindset – which is harder than it sounds – point yourself at what you want and get to work. One step at a time.

Thanks for reading. Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.

I’ll see you on Thursday.
