Welcome, everyone to the Final Five Thing Thursday of November!!
Here are Five Things I want you to Know:
Thing #1: This is the final week of the month that I’ve given myself to finish revising Stowaway – a short story that I had finished, but never sent anywhere, because it was too big, and I had switched my focus to writing novels.
Thing #2: If you’ve never done it, may I suggest that you take the time to read your entire work out loud. I find so much more stuff that I’ve missed because my brain doesn’t insert what I expect to be there.
Thing #3: I haven’t looked at this story for the time it took to write two books. Talk about putting distance between you and your work.
Thing #4: If you’re working on improving at something, especially at the pace of a writer, you might not see the improvement as it’s happening. You have to go back a ways and look at what you did then.
Thing #5: If you’re not where you want to be, keep going, one step at a time, you’ll get there.
