Happy Sunday Readers!
Short post this week. There may be a bit of contradiction in the title of the post this week, but bear with me.
Earlier today, I got a very pointed reminder of the benefits of being in the present moment. It happened while I was outside doing chores. We’ve entered the time of year where we’re going through a perpetual freeze-thaw cycle. Needless to say there’s mud, and slush and all manner of stuff that takes great pleasure in giving way beneath your feet as you step.
A near spill, especially when you’re carrying fifty pounds, is an event. It’s also a clear example of the benefits of being present.
I hadn’t been. I’d been planning ahead.
Sometimes that’s the way things go. You’re doing one thing and your mind starts to wander and the next thing you know, you’re doing that awkward one foot slide thing for a few inches.
It kills my knees – usually a few hours later.
So while I am ALL FOR planning ahead, there’s a time for it, and I posit here, that when there’s treacherous footing, maybe plan on being present.
Thanks for reading. Be safe out there. Be Excellent to Each other – and yourself.
I’ll see you on Thursday.
